Urban Warp/ Weft is an investigation of the aesthetic imagination of “re-use”, “recycle” and “green”, current buzzwords in Chicago art and politics. Exploring ecological connections in the built world, the project features combinations of recycled material. The artists have constructed the project as a two part process, positioning brainstorming and construction as equals. Their admittedly utopian vision is to generate a new conversation around the notion of social “sustainability” and process, in dialogue with architects, engineers, artists and industry. As the artists state, “The goal is to appreciate dialogue in its role of activating research as part of an ongoing collaborative material study.”

Recycled Furniture from the “public collection” creates an interesting understanding of collection, and recycle. As the furniture belongs to the State of Illinois, the goods cannot be donated or sold. Rather, the unused items sat in a storage facility for 10 years. The work was assembled, collected and created into an art context

The work points out the finesse of public spending, the collection obsession as well as recycling efforts.

An ongoing collaboration with friend and great artist Amanda Browder. CareerDay Team is a united front for aesthetics, conversation and plurality between public space and art.
